Are you experiencing problems with charging the Smart Battery Case for iPhone XS or XR? Apple has launched a replacement program for the affected units

Apple has started a replacement program for the Smart Battery Case for iPhone XS and iPhone XR. The company says that units sold from January 2019 to October 2019 may have charging problems due to a failure.

The affected units may experience problems such as intermittent charging when connected to power or the case simply does not charge the iPhone at all . Anyone who has a Smart Battery Case with these problems can get a free replacement.

This replacement program covers most of the Smart Battery Cases for iPhone XR, iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max. The start date of the eligibility window is January 2019, that is when the houses were put on sale for the first time.

Apple points out that there are no safety concerns with the batteries , which means you don’t have to worry about the fire hazards if you don’t replace the unit. If a serious problem had occurred, Apple would have initiated a product recall rather than a voluntary replacement program.

To obtain a replacement Smart Battery Case, you must contact an Apple Authorized Reseller or make an appointment at the Apple Store. For more information, see the official support document .

Apple claims that the drives will be tested and verified for eligibility as part of the service, but does not say that it will only replace drives that currently have flaws. This means that anyone who owns a Smart Battery Case for iPhone XS or iPhone XR that works normally, should still consider making an appointment to replace it if the problem occurs in the future.
