The founder and CEO of Huawei, Ren Zhengfei, talked about the way it is inspired by Apple, and now he is saying that Apple’s position on the privacy of users also based Huawei. In an interview cited by CNBC, Zhengfei said that Huawei will never provide user data to the Chinese government.
Zhengfei explained that Apple is his ” reference model ” regarding user privacy. Apple has historically taken a firm stand on protecting user privacy, and it appears that Zhengfei is trying to follow the pace of the Cupertino giant
When asked if Huawei provided data to users to the Chinese government, Zhengfei said the company will never do such a thing:
“We will never do such a thing. If I had done it just once, the United States would have had evidence to spread around the world. So the 170 countries and regions in which we currently operate would stop buying our products and our company would collapse.
He also pointed out that the data is owned by users , not by Huawei itself, although in the end it strangely connected things to carriers:
“The data is the property of our customers, not us. Carriers must keep track of each user, otherwise calls cannot be made. It is the carrier’s duty to trace user data. We, as a device supplier, do not track any data, “said the company founder.
