Samsung has released a new ad where it tries to encourage iPhone users to switch to the Samsung Galaxy S9. But it does so by comparing its top of the range with an iPhone 6. In the film of the Korean company, in fact, the Galaxy S9 is not compared to the latest iPhone X, iPhone 8 or 8 Plus produced by Apple but with an iPhone model on the market since 2014.
In the one-minute clip, a young woman is visibly frustrated by the sluggishness of her iPhone 6, which, after several negative vicissitudes, decides to go to the Galaxy S9. Inside the movie, however, is referred to iPhone X: walking on the street, in fact, the girl runs into a man with a baby in his arms and both have a haircut that nicely remembers the Notch of the iPhone X, device shown in a version retouched behind the man who walks in front of a store.
Samsung’s decision to use an older iPhone in the video may have something to do with the performance of the iPhone X, which proved to be better than the Galaxy S9 in benchmark tests, but nevertheless gave way to the Korean company to take around the performance management of Apple, which we remind you not to be enabled on the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X.
In fact, even a four-year-old iPhone 6 is not as slow as the one described by Samsung in the commercial. And if it is, then there are likely underlying problems. The same Samsung, in fact, states in the video that the “images on the screens are simulated”, suggesting that the apparent slowdown of the iPhone 6 protagonist of the spot is not even real.
It is not the first time that Samsung, in a nice way, tries to convince iPhone owners to switch to the Galaxy S9, but this time it does not seem to have done it the right way. Instead of directly using iPhone X in the comparison video, Samsung preferred to insert a few lines at the beginning of the movie where he explains that “the model shown is an iPhone 6 with iOS 11.2.6 and that new iPhone models are currently available”.
And you, what do you think?
