In the announcement of the launch date of HomePod, or February 9, Apple has also provided new details on the use of Siri by users. According to the company, the voice assistant is actively used on more than half a billion devices.
This is an improvement over previous data provided by Apple. Returning to the WWDC in June, the Cupertino company announced that Siri was used on more than 375 million iOS devices every month. The increase there was therefore after the release of iOS 11 and macOS High Sierra.
iOS 11 introduced several improvements for Siri, including a more realistic voice (male and female), to get as close as possible to the way of talking about a human being. The virtual assistant also learns from the commands of its user, improving itself, and synchronizes the information between all the devices in possession to ensure an even better experience.
The use of Siri is destined to grow with the arrival of HomePod, being one of its main strengths. On the smart speaker, the voice assistant will be able to provide musical suggestions, based on the user’s personal tastes, and will support requests such as “Play more songs like this”, “Play something new” or “Who’s singing?”.
Siri on HomePod can also answer questions on various topics, provide weather forecasts, sending messages, playing podcasts, consulting the latest news, and much more. In addition, the voice assistant can be used to manage HomeKit devices.
HomePod will hit the market on February 9th, but pre-orders will be open this Friday, January 26th. Initially, it will be available in the United States, Australia, and the United Kingdom. It will also arrive in France and Germany. No information, however, for the Italian market.
