Apple is considering legal action to induce Trump administration to revoke the recent executive order on immigration , said Tim Cook to the Wall Street Journal in a new interview. The news comes after Microsoft, Amazon and other companies have released statements in support of the fight against the government in the previous days.
The order, signed last Friday, prevents all refugees to enter the United States for 120 days, banning Syrian refugees for an indefinite period of time and prohibits citizens from 7 countries (Iran, Libya, Iran, Iraq, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen) to enter the US. Saturday, Tim Cook sent an email to all employees of Apple stating that the government “is not a policy approved by the company.”
Many Apple employees have contacted Cook telling of how the ban can adversely affect their lives, said the CEO of Apple. The Cupertino giant is therefore considering to take legal action to protect its employees and others. The decision to oppose the executive, Cook says, was very simple to make. Cook also stressed the importance of immigration for their nation and society: Apple would never have been born if the father of Steve Jobs Siriano had not had the opportunity to enter the United States of America.
In addition to lawsuits, Apple employees continue to perform in support of immigrants donations. Other companies are instead putting into practice alternative methods to oppose the executive to Trump, like Airbnb, which is allowing many immigrants to stay for free in some apartments.
