The latest results of research by Gartner reveal that the smartphone market continues to be dominated by two giants who have long imposed themselves: iOS and Android . The two operating systems, combined, reach 99.1% of world market share in the second quarter of 2016, an increase of 2.3% over the same period last year.
Android holds the title of most widely used operating system for smartphones, with a market share of ‘86.2% in the second quarter of the year, and increased by 4 percentage points compared to last year. In second place we find iOS, but down from 14.6% last year to 12.9% in 2Q16 . Windows and BlackBerry smartphones instead always sell less, coming to market share by 0.6% and 0.1% respectively.
