According to the latest rumors, Apple could integrate the WebP format Google on Safari in iOS 10. Thanks to the latter, uploading pictures and videos would be faster, thus further improve our user experience.

This new feature is not currently present in the beta release, or rather, not in its complete form. WebP is still used only by Chorme and other browsers based on its engine. Apple has already built of this size in Safari on iOS 10, in fact we can already see small improvements on static images load times. Missing is the total support, which should arrive before the final version of IOS 10, through which images and video will have the 10% lower load times.

We just have to wait for the next beta to see if Apple actually decides to fully implement the WebP format.
