The well-known analyst Kuo says that the next model of MacBook Air will not be powered by the M2 chip but by the M1 chip.

Following the Peek Performance event where Apple unveiled the Mac Studio , analyst Ming-Chi Kuo gave some details on the next MacBook Air model , another Mac expected to arrive later this year.

According to Kuo, the MacBook Air 2022 will have a completely new design and will be available in  more color options . Specifically, it should be thinner and lighter than the current model and may be available in colors similar to those of the 24-inch iMac – blue, green, pink, silver, yellow, orange and purple. In addition, the machine will be equipped with white bezels and keyboard.

As for the display, however, Kuo says that no mini-LED technology will arrive on the MacBook Air 2022. This technology relies on thousands of LEDs for the backlight, which results in higher contrast ratios and deeper blacks. similar to OLEDs. Currently, only the latest iPad Pros and MacBook Pros have a mini-LED display.

Another salient point of the well-known analyst’s report concerns the heart of the machine, or the chip that will power it. All the rumors that have emerged so far have stated that the next MacBook Air will be powered by the M2 chip, but Kuo reveals that  the Air 2022 will still be powered by the M1 chip .

Finally, Kuo reveals that mass production of the device will begin in late Q2 or early Q3 2022.
