New benchmarks reveal that the iPhone 13 models are significantly faster than the Galaxy S22 series.
Samsung’s new Galaxy S22 models are among the fastest Android smartphones ever, but they still can’t keep up with the iPhone 13 models.
Geekbench 5 benchmark tests conducted by PCMag show that the Galaxy S22 Ultra with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor achieved a multi-core score of 3,433 , compared to 4,647 achieved by the iPhone 13 Pro Max with the A15 Bionic chip from Apple. Based on these results, the iPhone 13 Pro Max is around 35% faster than the Galaxy S22 Ultra when it comes to CPU performance.
The test also notes that there may be some heating and performance throttling issues plaguing Samsung’s Galaxy S22 series. During the benchmark tests, the device “warmed up quickly and as soon as it got hot it recorded much lower results”.
Recall that Galaxy S22 models sold in Europe use Samsung’s Exynos 2200 chip . These chips offer a significantly lower speed than their Snapdragon counterpart and thus the iPhone 13 models retain a noticeable performance advantage.
PCMag also ran a Geekbench ML for machine learning-related performance, and the iPhone 13 Pro Max scored 948 , more than double that of the Galaxy S22 Ultra, which scored 448. Apple’s A15 chip introduces a new 16-core Neural Engine capable of performing 15.8 trillion operations per second for machine learning tasks such as processing Siri on the device.
