The Cupertino company has not abandoned the idea of Touch ID for its top-of-the-range smartphones and is working towards the future.

On- screen Touch ID is on Apple’s wish list. The Cupertino company is currently carrying out some tests for the implementation of this technology on the iPhone, but it will not be among the novelties of the upcoming iPhone 13 .

Rumors of the return of the Touch ID on the iPhone have been circulating practically since 2017, the year in which Apple removed it – with the iPhone X – from its top-of-the-range smartphones. Today, in the list, the only one to have it, but on the physical Home button, is iPhone SE 2020 . For others it’s just an old memory. However, it is back on the latest generation of iPad Air , positioned on the on / off button.

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman , who in the last few hours has also spent a few words on the Mac Mini M1X , Apple’s tests would concern a top-of-the-range iPhone which, however, will not be presented in 2021 . So, barring incredible twists, iPhone 13 won’t have Touch ID .

Missing Touch ID on iPhone? Or do you think Face ID has replaced it very well up to now?
